INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MEHMED AKIF ERSOY

Purpose and Scope

                Our National Anthem, which reflects the spirit of our independence and our future in the best way, is the most important symbol of the unity, perseverance and determination of our nation. The National Anthem, which was written while there was a struggle for existence in every corner of our occupied, saintly homeland, has become one of the most precious values of our country as the common voice and conscience of this nation.

                Mehmed Akif Ersoy, a great activist who gifted the National Anthem to this nation, had an exceptional place in the heart of the nation as an intellectual and enlightened person. Mehmed Akif Ersoy, a monumental person who devoted his whole life to his nation with his poems and ideas, traveled from city to city during our struggle for independence, shared his knowledge, excitement and hope with his nation, and set fire to independence in Anatolia with his sermons and writings.

                The decision of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is the manifestation of the national will, to make 2021, the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the National Anthem, to be the "Year of the National Anthem", has received the great appreciation of our beloved nation. This decision is of great importance for the new generations to grow up with the spirit and consciousness of national struggle, to protect our national and moral values, and to understand Mehmed Akif Ersoy and his works.

                In this purpose, various meetings, competitions and symposiums about Mehmed Akif Ersoy and the National Anthem are held in our country. Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University also continues its programs aimed at making our “Mehmed Akif Ersoy and the National Anthem” better understood by the youth, with various panels, meetings and exhibitions.

                With the International Symposium on Mehmed Akif Ersoy, it is aimed to research, review and record all aspects of Mehmed Akif Ersoy's lofty aims, principles and ideals, with the spirit of our National Anthem being felt again. In this scope; It is aimed to reintroduce the loud voice of our national poet Mehmed Akif Ersoy in language and literature, history, geography, religion, agriculture, veterinary work, architecture, education, sports, music and other fields to the agenda of our nation and the academic world.
